Tomer Niv’s Zala, a new Middle Eastern restaurant specialising in authentic meze, Levantine pizzas, pitas and grilled meats, is now open at The West Yard (near KERB Camden Market).
Zala is the brainchild of co-founders and brothers-in-law, Tomer Niv and Alon Shamir, who go back more than 25 years. One of Israel’s most renowned and innovative cooks; Tomer was formerly Head Chef at the celebrated R’amas Kitchen in Jerusalem (tragically destroyed in a fire last year).
Located in a converted unit space in the heart of KERB Camden Market, Zala features an alfresco takeaway bar and pizza oven, ideal for the coming summer months.
Main dishes on the menu range from Skewer of rib eye marinated in silan and olive oil, Jerusalem chicken and Slow roasted lamb shoulder. Stuffed pitas include Beef & lamb kebab, ‘Arayas’ grilled beef, Prawn & roast cauliflower and Sirloin steak & egg. Standout Levantine Pizzas (made with a classic Turkish dough containing yoghurt), meanwhile, include Beef & lamb matbucha and Prawns & roasted veg.
