To celebrate their recent ‘Best Restaurant Bar in the World’ win at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, Hawksmoor bars in London and Manchester are introducing Prohibition-inspired The Cocktail Hour for November, when a range of drinks from the new list will be available to sample for £5 between 5 and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
New cocktails include Messenger’s Tonic, a new gin and tonic with a twist (Beefeater, Lillet Blanc, sherry and tonic cordial) and Gunpowder Fizz, Hawksmoor’s take on George Kappeler’s Morning Glory Fizz from 1895 (Chivas 12 tear, Peat Monster, Pedro Ximenez, green tea, lime, egg white, soda).
Accompanying the new cocktail list is the 24-hour petrol station classic, the Steak Slice, Hawksmoor-style: a 200g 35-day-aged rare breed ribeye, slow braised with wine and bone marrow, wrapped inside a puff pastry with Colston Bassett Stilton. Priced at £20, it is available for one month only, until 30th November at all Hawksmoor Bars.
