Smokey Kudu is now open in Peckham

January 22, 2020

Smokey Kudu, an intimate neighbourhood cocktail bar, is now open under the arches by Queens Road station in Peckham. It is the first of its kind from couple Amy Corbin and Patrick Williams and a short walk away from their hit restaurant Kudu.

The elegant, 37-cover drinking den has the look and feel of a classic West End cocktail bar. Topped with pale pink marble and brass fittings, the central horseshoe bar dominates the space, with drinks shelves set against a large antique mirror covering the back wall. A giant glass chandelier hangs overhead giving the room a luxe feel and a warm glow. Green velvet banquette seating with dark red marble tables and antique mirrors above runs the length of the space. The walls are painted in dark red, evocative of the earthy tones used at Kudu.

Similarly, the drinks list at Smokey Kudu subtly draws on chef/ owner Patrick’s native South Africa with examples being Joburg (South African Gin & Vermouth, Tio Pepe, Orange) and a spicy Saffa-rita (Kudu Chilli Tequila, Van Der Hum, Lime, Chakalaka Salt).
