Hawksmoor Knightsbridge Opens

July 9, 2014

Will Beckett and Huw Gott’s first West London restaurant, Hawksmoor Knightsbridge opened on 3rd July. The fifth Hawksmoor is a subterranean 130 cover restaurant and 25 cover bar with a glamorous 1930’s interior and a menu revolving around steaks from ethically-reared native breed cattle and sustainable seafood form around the British coast.

This is what Will and Huw do best, although it’s taken the pair some time to secure the perfect site for their West London outing. “Doing something in Knightsbridge is amazing, if not a little intimidating! As it happens we’ve always thought Frankie’s (where Hawksmoor Knightsbridge is situated) would be a great spot for a Hawksmoor, even when we only had one restaurant in East London. We’ve been stalking the space for a long time!” says Will.

The menu, apart from featuring signature dictionary-thick steaks, has been inspired by recent travels. “I’ve been a little obsessed with Asian culture and food for a long time an have travelled to Japan (my wife is from Tokyo) and other parts of South East Asia many times,” says Huw.

Mitch Tonks, a frequent Hawksmoor collaborator, has helped perfect a number of the new seafood dishes including main courses of Singapore style Devilled lobster, Lobster roll with sriracha and yuzu and Steamed Halibut with sorrel salsa verde. Lighter starters include Citrus sea bass with chilli & ginger and Heritage tomato salad with fennel & bottarga.
