Happy Fourth of July from Hawksmoor Spitalfields Bar

June 30, 2017

Independence Day is almost upon us, so get ready to don your stars and stripes and conjure up visions of the mighty U.S of A at Hawksmoor Spitalfields Bar, where the team has been busy creating a celebration worth (American) dreaming about…

A rich combination of copper-topped tables, leather booths and Art Deco-style furnishings, the bar is the ideal place to let your hair down for an old-school Fourth of July party, running from 5.30pm ‘til late to a soundtrack of hip-hop beats from DJs Liam Davy of Bad Sports and Metinee Kongscrivilai.

Commence the merrymaking with classic cocktails featuring Heaven Hill whiskies, all of which have an awesome American twist. There’s Ward 8 Slushie (Evan Williams BIB and Strawberry Jam Syrup), Rye Apple Pie (Apple infused Rittenhouse 100, Apple Liqueur, Cinnamon Biscuit Syrup topped with Champagne) and All American Highball (Evan Williams BIB, Dill Pickle topped with Cream Soda), among others.

Obviously, no New World celebration would be complete without the all-time American staple, the burger, and Spitalfields’ take on the Big Mac, ‘The Big Donald’, is the creation of Hawksmoor Executive Chef Matt Brown. It’s a jaw-dropping mishmash of double well-aged beef and bone marrow patties, cheese, ‘Big Matt’ sauce, shredded lettuce and pickles in a sesame seed bun. Add some crispy Buffalo Nuggets to the mix and there you have it: a slap up feast fit for Thomas Jefferson himself.
