154 Haverstock Hill NW3 2AY

Picture of Ballaró Ballaro is an elegant and charming, sixty-cover restaurant serving reasonably priced seasonal Sicilian and Mediterranean dishes from renowned Italian chef Carmelo Carnevale. Since its opening in 2013 it has become a firm neighbourhood favourite amongst the residents of North London.

Carmelo’s menu at Ballaró jumps right off the page and immediately makes the diner want to tuck straight in. This is a chef whose sole interest in life is cooking and his sublime menu pays tribute to his native Sicily and its famous Ballaró market in Palermo.

Starters include Red Prawns Tartar with Clementine, Capers and Campari Dressing or Deep Fried Squid with Chilli and Lime Mayonnaise and Chickpea Pancakes or Fassona Beef Carpaccio with Watercress and Puntarelle Chicory.

The pasta course is a must at Ballaro with Cavateddi with Cime di Rapa Broccoli, Sundried Tomatoes, Ragusano Cheese, and taggiasche Olives or Ricotta Gnudi with Saffron infused Pecorino Cheese and Pistachio Nuts or Homemade Spaghetti with Slow Cooked Veal Osso Buco Ragout in Nero d'Avola Wine.

For the mains you can sample Sicilian Couscous with Scallops, Prawns and Octopus or Rack of Lamb with Pumpkin, braised Radicchio and Mint Yoghurt sauce.

Puddings follow on perfectly with Italian classics including perfect vanilla Panacotta or fabulous Tiramisu with Marsala.

Ballaro offers alongside the a la carte menu at lunch a fabulously priced weekday set lunch menu with two courses for £12.50.

Carmelo has devised a stunning, yet affordable two course Italian family Sunday Lunch offering. Inspired by Sundays back home in Palermo, his large family all getting together on the day of rest, tucking in to dishes cooked by him and his Mamma. The Italian Family Sunday Lunch at Ballaro is priced at £18.50 for two courses.

Fifth Floor Bar

Harvey Nichols SW1X 7RJ

Picture of Fifth Floor Bar Spring may not quite yet have sprung, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look ahead and enjoy the delicious flavours the season brings.

Indulge this spring in a delicious cocktail at the Fifth Floor Bar. The team have created a cocktail list with intriguing tastes and flavour combinations that they believe will be big hits for the months ahead.

The savoury basil works surprisingly well with campari, agave syrup and sharp zesty grapefruit juice, making this vivid drink thirst-quenching and flavoursome. A simple and sophisticated choice.

Kamm & Sons “the British aperitif” is gently stirred with elderflower cordial and complemented with Harvey Nichols Brut Champagne. This delicious combination is perfect for a light spring treat.

A perfect mix of Beefeater 24 and Solerno liqueur blended with lime and crushed ice. Finished with a hint of rose water and served caipirinha style. Citrusy and refreshing.

An elegant blend of spring delights exploding with fruity and floral freshness. Apricots and oranges are mixed with Makers Mark bourbon and mellowed by peach liqueur and vanilla sugar. Topped up with Harvey Nichols Brut Champane; pure bliss!

With the trees heavy with blossom and the sun breaking through, this beautiful blend of bay leaves, Martell vsop, chartreuse and orange combine to toast the changing seasons. Delicious!

The refreshing, simple ingredients work harmoniously to create a flavoursome, long cocktail. Thyme and lemon juice combined with Absolut vodka and livened with lemonade.

A simple drink based on the classic Moscow Mule, a refreshing creation that perfectly fits with the ethos of the spring season. Fennel infused Chase vodka is shaken with grapefruit and dill bitters, fresh lemon juice and charged with Luscombe ginger beer. Cool and tasty!

The Spring Cocktail Menu is available at the Fifth Floor Bar, Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge until Friday 28 March.

The stunning Fifth Floor Champagne Bar at the flagship Harvey Nichols store in Knightsbridge is an exclusive collaboration with Perrier-Jouët.

69-73 St John Street, Clerkenwell EC2V 8AS

Picture of FOXLOW The ultimate follow on from Foxlow's slow smoked ribs, the Elvis Presley Sandwich is a dessert the King himself would be proud of. Milk soft serve ice cream, peanut butter and banana compote are sandwiched in brioche fried with sugar cinnamon but term, topped with peanut butter sauce and bacon cooked in maple syrup (optional). Not for the faint hearted, but so good!

The Ribwich another menu addition and a lunchtime tribute to Homer Simpson, is a mix of slow-smoked beef, pork and bacon ribs, all pulled into chunks, piled into a soft white bun and topped with house barbecue sauce and and a few dashes of Mark 'The Ribman' Gevaux's Christ on a Bike hot sauce. Tastes like liberty…...

Foxlow, Will Beckett and Huw Gott's 100-cover restaurant and bar opened in Clerkenwell in 2013.

Foxlow, perhaps unsurprisingly, features charcoal grilled steak albeit in less known cuts, such as Deckle, the top, fatty part of the rib- eye, butchered by Tim Wilson of The Ginger Pig. Other grills include Pluma (pork feather steak), supplied by Brindisa. Slow-smoked dishes that Richard Turner and his team have been perfecting over many, many months form a big part of the menu and include Six-hour Bacon Ribs and Eight-hour Beef Shortrib. Fish and seafood comes from Brixham market and poultry from select North Yorkshire farms. Another big part of the menu is a large selection of salads, available to order individually or as an assortment providing lighter options for lunch or dinner. Desserts, from Hawksmoor’s pastry chef Carla Henriques include a fabulous selection of Soft Serve Sundaes.

Hawksmoor Air Street

5A Air Street W1J 0AD

Picture of Hawksmoor Air Street The Hawksmoor Air Street Bar menu features amongst other dishes, it's latest favourite thing: The Mitch Tonks' Crab Sandwich.
A heavenly sandwich first tasted at Mitch's restaurant Rockfish in Dartmouth, lovingly made with only the freshest crab meat, cucumber and pickles, layered between fluffy white bread now takes pride of place alongside Hawksmoor's already infamous buttery Lobster Roll.
Cornish rock oysters or Colchester natives served with or without Hawksmoor sausages are also available as well as fried rock oysters served with tartare sauce and lighter snacks such as Fried queenies, triple cooked chips and pickled cockles. For those with a sweeter inclination, macaroons and salted caramel rolos round up the offering.

5th April at Hawksmoor Guildhall

TOAST have partnered with Hawksmoor and The Ginger Pig to bring together three experts on the topic: Hawksmoor executive chef Richard Turner, The Ginger Pig owner Tim Wilson, and Philip Lymbery, CEO of charity Compassion in World Farming and author of Farmageddon: The True Cost of Cheap Meat.

The panel will share their perspectives on the UK’s current relationship with meat, what a healthy, sustainable supply chain could look like, and what we'll really be eating 100 years from now.
Will Beckett and Huw Gotts third steak restaurant cocktail bar, Hawksmoor Guildhall opened in 2011 on Basinghall Street in the City. Situated in the shadow of the actual Guildhall, a stone’s throw from Dolly’s, the 18th century restaurant that lays claim to being the first steakhouse of them all, it feels like it has been a City institution since the dawn of the 20th century.

On sale now at tickets cost £40 and will include a Bloody Mary on arrival, the ‘The Future of Meat’ debate and brunch on Saturday 5 April. @EatDrinkToast

While the 'dictionary thick' charcoal-grilled steaks from Longhorn cattle are the main feature at lunch and dinner, breakfast revolves around the long-forgotten Plum Pudding Pig. The breakfast menu, available 7-10am Monday to Friday, features everything from Devilled Veal Kidneys on Toast to Manx Kipper and Poached Eggs and the Ultimate Hawksmoor Breakfast to share with Smoked Bacon Chop, Sausages, Black Pudding, Short-Rib Bubble & Squeak, Grilled Bone Marrow, Trotter Baked Beans, Fried Eggs, Grilled Mushrooms, Roast Tomatoes, Dripping Toast and HP Gravy.

Hawksmoor Knightsbridge

3 Yeoman's Row SW3 2AL

Picture of Hawksmoor Knightsbridge Will Beckett and Huw Gott are excited to announce that Hawksmoor will be coming to West London this summer with the opening of Hawksmoor Knightsbridge on Yeoman’s Row planned for June.

Will and Huw have taken over the site that housed Frankie’s restaurant. Huw says to expect “a bit of old school glamour and atmosphere and another menu that revolves around what we do best – amazing steaks from ethically reared British cattle and a few surprise dishes and cocktails which we’re currently perfecting”.

Hawksmoor Seven Dials

11 Langley Street WC2H 9JG

Picture of Hawksmoor Seven Dials From Monday 10th March there'll be a new Third Burger at Seven Dials – the Five Pork Burger. Working on the assumption that more is always better, we've topped a Tamworth pork patty with sausage meat stuffing and a couple of slices of smoked bacon. On the side there's sausage gravy for French-dipping and a couple of extra-long pork scratchings. To balance it all out we snuck in some Spring Greens which brings a little Sunday Roast into the mix and a dollop of homemade apple ketchup. Definitively the piggiest way to get your greens.

Hawksmoor Spitalfields Bar

157 Commercial Street E1 6BJ

Picture of Hawksmoor Spitalfields Bar It’s ‘April Fool’ Josh Reynolds’ turn on the Desert Island Drinks list this month at Spitalfields Bar. Drop in for cocktails that include ingredients like Salted Pineapple Syrup, Kaffir Lime, Nettle and Byrrh, although not all in the same drink. The five monthly changing Desert Island Drinks are personal favourites chosen by a different member of Hawksmoor's crack cocktail team, along with fine non-changers.

The food menu at Hawksmoor Spitafields bar features a compilation of sandwiches ideally suited to soaking up the carefully selected cocktails. The menu also features a selection of popular staples of the Hawksmoor bar menus: Hot Dog and Chili Cheese Dog, Shortrib French Dip, Cheeseburger and the Lobster Roll amongst others.

Die-hard fans will be surprised with the ‘almost vegan’ (there is some butter in the brioche bun) Chana Masala Burger, a tribute to a much-missed local curry house, Sweet and Spicy on Brick Lane.

Other dishes include a supercharged Fillet ’o’ Fish, with Jalapeño tartare, Seoul Ribs, XO Chicken Wings, Pulled Pork Bun and the not-very-vegan Pig’s Head Poutine
